UNDERWRITING ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION:

NAS is currently looking to hire a dynamic Underwriting trainee to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, analytical, marketing oriented and have excellent communication skills. This position will be entry level and training will be accomplished by working closely with our staff of professionals. This position will be fast paced, challenging, and diverse with hands on instruction.  The position will serve as a subject matter expert to analyze and screen new and renewal submission exposures for rating and quoting using approved guidelines. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
  • Is a liaison between clients and Underwriter’s, requests or delivers correspondence, documents and information with a high level of professionalism to both. 
  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with producers, brokers, agents and customers as well as communicate effectively through broker negotiations to ensure profitable production.
  • Contacts clients and explains features and merits of policy coverage, recommends amount and type of coverage based on analysis of clients needs and suggests additions or changes.
  • Assists Company and Underwriters to meet production goals and client expectations by identifying exposures for rating and quoting, negotiating terms and conditions with producer agents, producing quotes and binding coverage within timeframes, handling and servicing an existing book of business. 
  • Prioritizes work according to client and Underwriter needs within set turnaround times; keeps Underwriter apprised of potential client issues and client aware of Underwriter’s needs. 
  • Develop critical underwriting skills by assessing risks to determine the appropriate price, coverage, terms and conditions, as well as taking the policy to completion.
  • Enters and maintains client and policy data in computer system and electronic file system and tracks and follows up on tasks forwarded to other staff or clients to ensure timely completion.
 
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Ability to interact positively succinctly and professionally with all levels of internal and external clients and be comfortable building a rapport with differing personalities.  
  • Should be proactive, able to self manage, highly self-motivated and in search of a career.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, independent thinking and strong analytical abilities are necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of this position.  
  • Candidate must possess ability to stay organized, have great attention to detail and excellent follow-through. 
  • Ability to handle competing demands, use time efficiently and prioritize appropriately.

HUMAN RESOURCES / EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
 
NAS is currently looking to hire a dynamic Human Resource Assistant to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, analytical, people oriented and have excellent communication skills. This position will be fast paced, challenging, and diverse with hands on instruction as a liaison between the Vice President of Operations and staff. The primary function of this position will be to effectively handle general day to day HR requirements of the company and staff as well as assist VP of Operations with clerical tasks.   
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
  • Records, tracks and maintains employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, attendance and performance.
  • Works to ensure staff personnel needs are met continually in a timely manner. 
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Assists in recruiting efforts, reviews employment applications, conducts interviews, verifies employment and assist in other on-boarding activities.
  • Calculates payroll hours and wage changes for submission to third party processor.
  • Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Compiles data from personnel records or other sources and prepares reports. 
  • Creates form or information packets for supervisor or staff.
  • Handles administration of benefits by reconciling monthly bills, conducting new hire benefits meetings and assisting with daily questions from staff and annual benefit renewal.
  • Plans and coordinates company events.
  • Prepares miscellaneous reports and spreadsheets as needed by the Executive Team.
  • Acts as point of contact for building management and company vendors.
 
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

CLAIMS EXAMINER


NAS is currently looking to hire a dynamic Claims Examiner to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, analytical, customer service oriented and has excellent communication skills.  This position will be fast paced, challenging, and diverse with hands on instruction. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Position will work with other Claims Examiners in evaluation of new notifications of claims on various specialty insurance products.
  • Position makes decisions whether to cover or deny claims based on both pre-determined criteria and by gathering facts.
  • Position works closely with company management and various internal staff, clients, client's attorneys, and other external customers to gather information and follow up.
  • Job duties include writing multi-page letters to clients and attorneys: candidate must have the ability to write business letters as well as communicate in a professional manner.
  • Job functions include analyzing information, formulating conclusions and making sound decisions.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must possess ability to stay organized, have great attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Should be able to detect discrepancies and variances in wording, grammar, spelling and numbers.
  • Good computer skills necessary including the ability to learn new software.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical abilities will be required to successfully fulfill the job duties.
  • Good customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor.
  • Must be a great team player.
  • Should be motivated and in search of a challenging position.
  • A minimum of 1 year general office experience is required.
  • Accounting or legal administration experience may be helpful, but is not required.
  • Insurance claims experience is not required.
